Rockstar on Steam

The lastest news on steam is that Rockstar is coming to it, they provide a link to the “Rockstar Collection” including all the GTA games, but so far it leads no where. It’s been like that a few days. Weird to have an announcement then not actually provide the games. Maybe they just aren’t available to Australian users, some other games have been announced like that, but lead to dead ends for me. It’s a pity they don’t have a “not available in your region” page or something. The way I see it they shouldn’t even show up in the news if it’s irrelevant to me. Can anyone see the GTA games?

Thought I’d give you a little update on the Rockstar games thing.

Yesterday, I noticed the same dealio, remembered a glitch we discovered last year and then found an announcement on the whole deal.

In short, it’ll be coming in the next few days (hopefully) as there have been issues regarding Manhunt in the bundle and getting OFLC classification. I’ve contacted Rockstar for some more information but they’ve yet to get back to me.

I’ve got access to all the games through a press account and actually discovered that Manhunt will not work at all within Australia, even if other Rockstar games do (though the public can’t purchase them).

Grrr, quite an annoying little event if you ask me!

Just had word back from Rockstar Australia head, Simon Ramsey;

“I can confirm the locally released versions of the games will be available in a few days.”

Although, still haven’t got any word on whether Manhunt will be included.

Thanks for the info. It’s rather annoying that they even discriminate for local content. It seems to go against the principle of the web, that physical location should be irrelevant. It’s probably the fault of our side of the fence since they’re the ones that kicked a fuss content in the initial releases of the GTA games, so they had local versions for some of them. Manhunt, stinks of the standard censorship issues we face here when controversial movies come out.

It’s strange that the OFLC will banned movies for having too much life like sex, but let violent movies get through fine. Games they’re still convinced are all targeted at kids, so they’ll ban anything. Like the Mark Echo’s thing with graffiti.

I love graffiti, don’t actually vandalise anything (prefer to paint in my backyard) but really appreciate good, well thought out pieces. Mark Echo was interesting when considering the game actually did get released, then got banned post-event after a council member, state parliamentary officer in Queensland I believe, complained to the OFLC that it was teaching kids to vandalise. What a crock of shit! How can you ban a game post-release?

Once the pack is release in the next few days I’ll be keen to see whether Manhunt is included or not. If they’re going for an MA15+ rating for the entire pack, according to Internode, then maybe Manhunt can be reclassified and released? Sure, it’s a long shot but might be a nice turn around.

Either way, the next few days will tell but I’ll keep ya updated. I’ve been spending quite some time chatting to Rockstar and they assured they’ll keep me up to date.

3 months later and we still dont have them , sirusly WTF
