Doctor Who

The newest iteration of Doctor Who is great.

When the BBC started the new series in 2005, I thought the new Doctor was okay, and the new Who girl (Rose) was terrible. I watched a few then stopped, she annoyed me too much.

They changed the Doctor in season 2. The new Doctor played by David Tennant is the best Doctor the series has ever had. Even better then Tom Baker. I can’t really attest to him in season 2 though, I had to wait till Rose left to watch it. Apparently they fell in love by the end.

In season 3, the new Who girl, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), is an enormous improvement on Rose, mainly because, well, she can act. Her and David Tennant have chemistry, they seem to bounce of each other well.

David Tennant is the ultimate geek hero. Doctor Who’s always been a bit this way, what with travelling round the universe saving the day at the last minute with nothing but a sonic screwdriver and all. There’s a great moment in S03E06 where:

Martha’s sister: “He’s a science geek, I should have known”.
(she leaves)
The Doctor: “Science geek, what’s that mean?”
Martha Jones: “You’re obsessively enthusiastic about it.”
The Doctor: “Ah, right” (with an extremely pleased and satisfied grin on his face, it’s all in the self satisfaction :) ).

Anyways, it’s great! Woo! The writing is fantastic this time too. They seem to be handling Martha’s character really well. The Doctor lights up the stage ever time he enters screen. He does really well with all sorts of added odd yet endearing mannerisms and quirks.

I told my sister if I was gay I’d be in love with him, she told me if she was gay she’d be turned by him. :P.

Anyway, I highly recommended it, especially if you were initially enthusiastic about the new series, but disappointed by Rose, both her acting and how they handled her character.

I don’t get BBC here, but EZTV and Mininova are substitutes.
