Iraq

Recently it turned 3 years after the US invasion of Iraq.

A friend of mine sent me a link to this blog:

Baghdad Burning - Girl Blog from Iraq… let’s talk war, politics and occupation.

This blog is the best blog I’ve ever read. I’m not really sure what more to say about it. It’s very emotional, educational. It reconnects you to humanity.

I don’t hear enough from the inside of Iraq. Like China, but a different kind of filter. I plan to make this blog a regular site, along with Aljazeera.

Move complete

So I finally found a web hosting service that I am happy with.

My previous site roserpens.net was hosted by liquidchain.com, they never answered my emails which demanded they give me access to my domain account details (so that I could change hosting services).

That is why I had to get a new domain name. They must truely have the worst support of any hosting company. Anyway they are now gone from my mindspace.

I’ll update in future on how my new host works out, but for now I think I am willing to recommend them to people.

A Small Orange

The have cheap basic plans, but they still have full funcitonality. ie As many MySql databases as you can fit in your space. Perl, Php, MySql, Python, etc.
I am also changing the name of the blog from Serpens (which is silly) to Planet Nectarius (which is sillier).
In other news Neverwinter Nights 2’s website has finally launched. At nwn2.com or it redirects to:
http://www.atari.com/nwn2/

Moving

this website is moving.

Knowing what I do about my website statistics, I know that this isn’t actually relavent to anyone except me, but it seems the thing to do to note it here.

roserpens.net is moving to nectarius.net

It as an equally ludicrous and dorky name. Actually maybe dorkier, but it least it has a foundation in something.

roserpens comes from, Ro Serpens, which was a user name I created once. Ro comes from Roc, a nic for someone I knew at the time. Serpens comes from latin for snake because I was looking up latin names for snakes at the time, I wont say why because frankly, I’m embarrassed about it. Okay.. It was to do with Harry Potter fan fiction. In retrospect I could have done much better then that.

So..

Nectarius comes from Nectarine, because I like nectarines. In fact they are my favorite fruit of all time ever (more then mangos… really). When they are properly ripe anyway (which is for maybe a few weeks of the year). Nectarius, seems like planet nectarius. Which will be the name of planet earth when nectarines mutate into sentient beings and take over the world.

In fact thinking of this makes me want to play Galactic Civilizations 2 and start a species called the Nectarians with a homeworld called Nectarius. The singular of the Nectarians is of course a Nectarine. With my help as their leader, the Nectarians shall forge a place in the stars, soon the entire galaxy will be ruled by the Nectarian Empire.

I’ve always known there’s more to fruit than most people think.

ps. nectarius.net is not yet set up properly. I having problems with my hosting provider, and my uni’s proxy server.

Mornings

There’s something about mornings, when the earth is still warming up. It feels more alive. Alert. I walk around on a fresh morning and I feel like I’m participating in the world, whatever I do.

Beyond Good and Evil, possible sequal.

RUMOUR Beyond Good Evil sequel in the works Revolution News Australia’s PAL Gaming Network

[edit] wp messed up this link.. bleh. [/edit]

This news in both heartening and suprising.
There is a rumour that the fantastic game, Beyond Good and Evil, may actually be getting the sequal it deserved. For all platforms when next gen hits.
It’s makes sense if you think about it, with the revolution and ps3 people will be searching for games ‘new’ games (not bad ports) that show off their potential.
If BGAE is expanded to it’s potential, it may get a third which would then complete the story.
This game was pretty much thought left for dead by it’s fans. I think they over marketed it, and didn’t get the sales they needed to cover it.

Good Night and Good Luck

I saw “Good Night and Good Luck” tonight.

Another really really good movie.

It is worth doing good, for it’s own sake. Things are what we make them.
